  • 81% of bettors believe Jets go 0-16

  • Any Jets win still pays out $17 for every $10 bet

  • Jets best hope might be a Week 17 game in New England

  • 75% of bettors backing Raiders to cover versus New York this week

  • BetOnline offering a generous welcome bonus for all NFL bets (max bonus $1000)

Dear @NYJets, Please win a game.  81% of the bettors believe you will go 0-16.  Currently pays +170 (or $17 for every $10 bet)

This was the desperate plea from Dave Mason, head oddsmakers at BetOnline, earlier in the week.

Whether the hapless Jets listen remains to be seen.

The "Winless Jets" prop bet will prove a major liability should it come to fruition with only five regular season games left.

Trip to Hell

This weekend the Jets face a Raiders team that is still in contention for a Playoffs spot with a 6-5 record.  It all goes downhill from there with games against the Seahawks and Rams on the road.

Should the Browns be out of contention in Week 16, there is some hope for this Week 16 game.  Cleveland is currently 8-3 but their last five wins have been by five or fewer points and they play in a division that features an undefeated Steelers team.

A Week 17 game in New England should prove to be meaningless outside of the Patriots pride.  New England did beat the Jets on November 9 at the Meadowlands by a mere field goal.

It's not just Mason and the BetOnline crew rooting hard against Jets upcoming opponents.  Vegas sportsbooks will be forced to hate on their own newly anointed home town team, the Raiders, this week.

75% of the spread action was on the Raiders in this weekend's game with Las Vegas an 8-point favorite.  Sagarin Ratings suggests this line is dead on.

There is some good news for New York and the bookmakers as the Raiders will be without running back Josh Jacobs and safety Johnathan Abram.

Jacobs is the NFL's fifth-leading rusher with 782 yards.  Abram was previously on the Covid-19 reserve list.  Now he is out with a knee injury.

Uglier By The Week

Throughout the season, Jets head coach Adam Gase has been listed among the favorites to be next with his head on the chopping block.  He's managed to outlast a few others.  The Houston Texans fired their head coach, Bill O’Brien, while the Atlanta Falcons got rid of Dan Quinn.

For his part, Gase admits he hasn't done a good job of developing starting quarterback Sam Darnald.

"I came here to help him, help him develop his career and we haven't been able to do that," Gase said in a Zoom call with reporters. "I haven't done a good enough job."

After another miserable loss this past Sunday, Gase is now 7-20 calling the shots in New York. Darnold, over three years, has an 11-22 record at quarterback.

Chiefs Will Have Tough Time Staying Undefeated vs. Bills

Most of the G911 Sports Hub top handicappers were backing the Bills to cover the spread against Kansas City late Sunday afternoon.  Considering Buffalo is the favorite, this will be no easy task for the Chiefs to remain undefeated.
