Tigers vs. Twins
What We Like:
- Both teams playing well
- Twins 8-2 in last ten meetings and winners of the last three games of this series look to sweep
What We Don't Like:
- Twins a huge -240 favorite
PITCHING MATCHUP: Tigers RH Jordan Zimmermann (0-1, 2.50 ERA) vs. Twins RH Jose Berrios (1-1, 2.18)
After giving up one run across 13 2/3 innings over his first two starts, Zimmermann was reached for five runs (four earned) in 4 1/3 frames in the loss to Cleveland on Tuesday. The 32-year-old gave up five runs over 3 2/3 innings in his last matchup with the Twins on Sept. 17, 2018 and he has a 6.36 ERA in nine career encounters. Nelson Cruz is 4-for-4 with a home run and a double in his career against Zimmermann.
Berrios has three straight quality starts out of the gate but took a tough loss after allowing two runs in six innings at Philadelphia his last time out. He owns 21 strikeouts against four walks across 20 2/3 innings while holding opponents to a .155 average. The 24-year-old from Puerto Rico owns a 7.06 ERA in his career against the Tigers.
The UNDER is seeing approximately 60% of the total action with the number coming off 8 to 7.5.
Indians vs. Royals
What We Like:
- Tough to see a team that lost 10 consecutive coming into this series sweep it against an Indians club that does have a winning record
- Indians still have good value at -135
What We Don't Like:
- The line has dropped from -150 to -138 at some books with Indians seeing better than 65% of the action
- Corey Kluber coming off a victory
PITCHING MATCHUP: Indians RH Corey Kluber (1-2, 3.86 ERA) vs. Royals RH Jakob Junis (1-1, 5.74)
Kluber rebounded from a rocky outing on April 3 with a strong winning effort Tuesday in Detroit, allowing two runs - one earned - while striking out eight across six innings. The two-time Cy Young Award winner was sharp in his only other road turn as well, taking the loss on Opening Day at Minnesota despite yielding two runs in seven frames. Alex Gordon (8-for-55, 22 strikeouts) and Merrifield (8-for-33) have struggled versus Kluber, who is 7-2 with a 2.70 ERA in his last 11 starts against Kansas City.
Junis continued to record strikeouts at an impressive rate Tuesday but took the loss against Seattle after permitting four runs and eight hits in four frames. The 26-year-old fanned six batters in the outing and has recorded 20 strikeouts over 15 2/3 innings, yet he has surrendered at least three runs in each of his turns. Jose Ramirez (5-for-13, two doubles) and Carlos Santana (3-for-4) are among the Indians who have fared well against Junis, who is 2-2 with a 5.63 ERA in six career appearances (five starts) versus Cleveland.
