Chicago Cubs vs. Miami Marlins

What We Like:

  • Cubs have won four of the last five meetings and six of the last nine
  • Yu Darvish desperate for his first win

What We Don't Like:

  • Little line movement with 70% of action on Cubs
  • Both clubs have a losing record
  • Despite Darvish being a good pitcher, the Cubs do not have one of the better bullpens in the league

The Cubs at some books were seeing the most betting action this Monday.

Cubs are -135, Marlins +120.

PITCHING MATCHUP: Cubs RH Yu Darvish (0-2, 7.50 ERA) vs. Marlins RH Trevor Richards (0-1, 2.00)

After an excellent spring, Darvish is off to a rough start through his first three starts, although he took steps in the right direction last time out. The 32-year-old from Japan issued 11 walks over 6 2/3 innings in his first two turns but did not hand out a free pass in Wednesday's loss to Pittsburgh, even though he served up a pair of home runs. Darvish is 1-1 with a 7.94 ERA in three career starts against the Marlins.

Richards mostly struggled through 25 starts for the Marlins last season, but he has been outstanding in his first three turns of 2019, registering 18 strikeouts in as many innings. The 25-year-old has posted a quality start each time out thus far as he limited Cincinnati to one hit over six scoreless innings on Monday, although he did issue five walks. Richards will be facing the Cubs for the first time in his career.

Cleveland Indians vs. Seattle Mariners

What We Like:

  • The OVER is Mariners games this season is 13-5, the most of any other team
  • The last six games in this series have gone OVER the total with no less than nine runs scored
  • Mariners have allowed five or more runs in their last ten games

What We Don't Like:

  • We don't like the total dropping a half run from 7.5 to 7
  • 70% of the action is on the OVER
  • Trevor Bauer, a good pitcher, starting for Cleveland and suffered his first loss of the season his last outing
  • Indians also have one of the best bullpens

Edge: OVER

We are seeing -110 for both sides at a number of books.

Cleveland allowed 9 runs in their Sunday game against Kansas City and 8 on Friday. The Indians starting pitchers are currently among the top 10 best in the league, ranked around 9 with a combined ERA of 3.52 and they currently have the second best bullpen.

PITCHING MATCHUP: Indians RH Trevor Bauer (1-1. 2.29 ERA) vs. Mariners LH Yusei Kikuchi (0-0, 4.15)

Bauer suffered his first loss last time out, allowing four runs and 10 hits in 5 2/3 innings at Detroit, after two dominant starts to open the season. The 28-year-old UCLA product, who has registered 24 strikeouts in 19 2/3 frames this year, permitted one run and one hit over 14 innings in his first two turns. Ryon Healy is 4-for-11 with a double and four RBIs versus Bauer, who is 1-4 with a 4.60 ERA in eight career games against Seattle.

Kikuchi left his start against the Royals on Wednesday due to leg cramps but is expected to be ready on four days' rest after allowing three runs and five hits over six innings. The 27-year-old rookie from Japan has struck out 15 batters and walked just three while serving up four home runs in 21 2/3 frames. Left-handed hitters are just 1-for-11 against Kikuchi, who has posted two quality starts in his first four major-league outings.

LA Angels vs. Texas Rangers

What We Like:

  • The UNDER is 12-3 in all of the Angels games this season so far, the most UNDERs in Major League Baseball
  • Only one game between the Angels and Rangers has gone OVER the current total of 10.5.
  • The Angels have won eight of the last ten meetings
  • The Angels have one of the best bullpens in Major League Baseball
  • Six of the last ten games the Angels have played in have stayed UNDER 10.5, Seven of the last ten the Rangers have played in have stayed UNDER that number
  • The UNDER is 16-5 in this series
  • Shelby Miller is really desperate for a win starting for Texas.  He's 0-5 win a 10.38 ERA in seven games (six starts) over the last two seasons

What We Don't Like:

  • Miller just might have it in him to keep this one UNDER and Cahill is perhaps due for a bad outing

The line on this game really hasn't moved, with the Angels -130 and Rangers at +118.

PITCHING MATCHUP: Angels RH Trevor Cahill (1-1, 3.50 ERA) vs. Rangers RH Shelby Miller (0-1, 9.53)

Cahill has lasted exactly six innings in each of his first three starts, allowing a total of three runs over his last two. He has walked just two batters in 18 innings while holding opponents to a .212 average. The 31-year-old is 11-4 with a 3.22 ERA in 20 career starts against Texas.

Miller has stumbled out of the gate with Texas, allowing six runs in 5 2/3 innings through his first two starts. The 28-year-old has issued eight walks while fanning only three as a Ranger, falling to 0-5 with a 10.38 ERA in seven games (six starts) over the last two seasons. Miller has not pitched since he was chased after two frames at Los Angeles on April 7, which left him 1-1 with a 6.75 ERA lifetime versus the Angels.

We do have a play on the Sixers in the NBA this evening -7.5.
