ABOUT BUFFALO (7-5): The Bulls had the best scoring defense in the Mid-American Conference in 2019, holding opponents to 22.3 points per game. Part of that was aided by not being on the field much due to the Buffalo rushing attack, which averaged a MAC-best 254.3 yards per game behind Jaret Patterson (135.5). Patterson boasts 1,626 yards and 17 touchdowns on the ground, including a school-record 298 and a MAC-record six TDs in a 49-7 win over Bowling Green in the regular-season finale.
ABOUT CHARLOTTE (7-5): The 49ers also depend on their ground attack, with a two-headed monster of running back Benny LeMay and quarterback Chris Reynolds. Charlotte ranked No. 1 in Conference USA, averaging 207 rushing yards as a team, and LeMay, a senior, was second in the conference with 103.7 per game. But the true driver of the Charlotte offense is its sophomore signal caller Reynolds, who has not only run for 781 yards and six touchdowns but also passed for 2,366 yards along with 21 touchdowns this season.
