Our Top Pick for Monday June 20: Under on the Yankees-Rays Game
Even at 6.5 we think the Rays-Yankees game total Monday is one to bet.
Indeed, it is one of our favorite free MLB picks of the day following a close analysis.
Nestor Cortes with his 1.94 ERA and a 0.93 WHIP, most recently limited the Rays to just one run. He’s .178 versus Rays hitters, allowing just 15 hits in 74 at bats and has allowed just one home run versus the Rays.
Cortes has been the best starting pitcher for the Yankees so far this year, and that's saying a lot considering how solid this squad is.
Whether he goes deep again in Monday's game remains to be seen as he did appear winded after six innings of play versus the Rays his last outing.
“I do think he kind of hit a little bit of a wall there,” Yankees manager Aaron Boone said after Wednesday. “In that last inning. I thought his stuff fell off just a little bit.”
Tampa Bay, meanwhile, sends Shane McClanahan to the mound. He has a 7-3 record with a 1.84 ERA and 0.86 WHIP.
McClanahan should be at his best coming off a loss against the Yankees in which he allowed four runs. He also lasted six innings.
And against Yankees hitters McClanahan is still pretty spectacular, allowing just 17 hits in 74 at bats.
We will be on the UNDER here even at 6 (find live odds here), but the number had yet to be released as of Sunday afternoon.
The total was actually 6.5 and concluded at 6 runs scored for the win.
