Betting Preview (April 17, 2021)

The Mets were 5-3 coming into this series.  The first game of the series was postponed due to weather.  A doubleheader was on tap for the first night (April 17).

The Mets have played a major league-low eight games ahead of the series in Colorado.

New York is among the early favorites to win the 2021 World Series at 10-1 odds.

Colorado comes into this one a disappointing 3-10.

Saturday April 17 -

The scheduled pitching matchup for Friday, with the Mets sending Jacob deGrom against Chi Chi Gonzalez, will be the same for the first game. The nightcap will feature New York's Joey Lucchesi against Colorado's German Marquez.

This will be the second start of the season for deGrom (0-1, 0.64 ERA), who held the Miami Marlins to one run over eight innings and struck out 14 but took the hard-luck 3-0 loss on April 10.

He has faced Colorado seven previous times in his career -- all starts -- and is 4-1 with a 1.25 ERA in those matchups. Two of those starts came at Coors Field, where he is 1-1 with a 2.51 ERA.

Gonzalez (1-0, 3.60 ERA) is making his second start and fourth appearance of the season. Gonzalez has never faced the Mets.

Colorado is a +235 home dog in Game 1 with a total of 7 and the line is similar in Game 2 with a total of 9.5.

Sunday April 18 -

The matchup was yet to be determined as of press time.

Betting Trends (April 17, 2021)

  • The last five games in this series played in Colorado stayed UNDER the total.
  • Though the Mets have won four of the last five games in this series, Colorado had been 8-1 previous to this period.
