Delaware's three casinos will be offering sports betting including on the 2018 NBA Finals just in time to bet on Game 3.

The First State will live up to its nickname Tuesday June 5th at 1:30 p.m when it becomes the first state outside of Nevada to offer legalized sports wagering following a U.S. Supreme Court decision last month allowing for the activity provided the proper legal framework is in place.  Delaware already had such a framework in place and has been allowed to offer parlay betting since 2009.

Delaware Park, Dover Downs and Harrington Raceway are hoping the additional form of gambling will draw in more visitors, which could translate into additional sales of food and alcohol.

While Delaware may be a small state with a population under a million, Philadelphia is a mere 40 minutes away from Delaware Park.  Those living in the Baltimore area can get to Harrington Raceway in around an hour-and-a-half.

"You have to really go through and get trained on how to do it from an operations perspective, which we've been doing for two weeks now," Delaware Park President Bill Fasy said. "It's a little bit more complicated than the parlays which we've been doing for some time."

"We do have plenty of information to be handed out," Dover Downs Hotel Casino President Ed Sutor said. "It will be a learning process for our customers, but we may be surprised at how well-versed our customers already are with regards to placing bets on single games."
