Bet on Who Will Become the Boston Bruins Next Head Coach 2022
Pundits believe that Providence College head coach Nate Leaman, UMass-Amherst head coach Greg Carvel, and former Boston Bruins center Marc Savard are most likely to replace Bruce Cassidy as head coach of the Boston Bruins.
The oddsmakers have Leaman as the very slight 4-1 favorite. Barry Trotz was coming in with the second shortest odds of 5-1. Carvel was coming in at +550 but Savard was at 7-1 with other candidates having shorter odds. Pete DeBoer, was coming in at 6-1. Dave Tippett and Jeff Blashill were at 7-1 along with Jim Montgomery.
In 11 seasons as Providence Friars head coach, Leaman has compiled a 220-133-51 record with six NCAA Tournament appearances and two Frozen Four trips, including a 2015 national championship.
He agreed to a multi-year extension back in May to remain Providence coach, however.
“Providence has been my home for the last 11 years and I am thrilled to remain a Friar,” Leaman said in a statement. “I want to thank Father Sicard, athletic director Bob Driscoll, current senior associate athletic director and incoming athletic director Steve Napolillo for their everlasting support of the program. We are fortunate to be given the resources to compete at a high level each season and to play our home games at Schneider Arena – one of the best facilities in college hockey. I will always appreciate the support we have received. I’m really excited for next season and the team we are returning.”
That doesn't sound like someone looking to transfer to the NHL.
Trotz seems like a more likely option. He served as the first Nashville Predators' head coach and led them to the playoffs seven times.
Trotz is the EVEN odds favorite to become the Winnipeg Jets next head coach though.
