About This Series

June 2 - Five of the last six meetings have gone OVER the current total of 9.5.

Recent Performance

May 31 - Pittsburgh has scored 5 or more runs in six of their last ten.  They have allowed five or more runs in nine of their last ten.

Sunday's Odds

Milwaukee was at -115, Pittsburgh +107.

The total really stands out however as the number has moved from 10 to 9, definitely suggesting an UNDER for us.  We will look further to make a determination.

Sunday's Starting Pitching

PITCHING MATCHUP: Brewers RH Zach Davies (5-0, 2.19 ERA) vs. Pirates RH Jordan Lyles (5-2, 3.09)

Davies did not factor into the decision against Minnesota on Tuesday despite turning in perhaps his best start of the season, allowing five hits and walking two over six scoreless innings. The Arizona native has been very stingy in his six road outings, going 2-0 with a 1.80 ERA while also recording 30 of his 42 strikeouts. Starling Marte is 6-for-13 with two doubles against Davies, who is 2-5 with a 5.98 ERA in nine starts versus the Pirates.

The UNDER is 8-1 in Davies' last 9 road starts.

The UNDER is 4-0 in Davies' last 4 starts vs. the Pirates.

Lyles exited early Tuesday in Cincinnati with left hamstring discomfort, but took the loss and saw his three-start winning streak halted after permitting three runs across four innings. The former first-round pick tailed off over his final two May outings (1-1, 8.39 ERA) after winning two of his first three starts of the month while posting a 1.37 ERA. Yasmani Grandal (6-for-19, five RBIs) has fared well versus Lyles, who recorded a 3.31 ERA in 11 relief appearances as a member of the Brewers late last season.

With nearly 70% of the total action on the OVER, the number dropping seems suspicious to us.  We do think this one goes UNDER 9.  Our last free pick was a push.

Friday's Odds

Milwaukee is a -131 favorite.

Friday's Starting Pitcher Matchup

PITCHING MATCHUP: Brewers RH Jhoulys Chacin (3-6, 4.88 ERA) vs. Pirates RH Chris Archer (1-5, 5.75)

Chacin is 0-3 with a 4.29 ERA in four starts this month and lost his third straight outing Saturday against Philadelphia after surrendering four runs over five innings. The 31-year-old has not had much success in his six road turns, losing each of his last five while posting a 1-5 record and 5.90 ERA overall. Josh Bell is 3-for-13 with a solo homer versus Chacin, who went 0-3 despite a 3.03 ERA in six starts against Pittsburgh last season.

Archer began the season 1-0 with a 2.00 ERA after three starts but hasn't come close to replicating his early success since. The two-time All-Star has been saddled with the loss in each of his last five turns and saw his ERA swell to 8.74 over that stretch on Sunday, when he gave up four runs on six hits and six walks in five frames versus the Los Angeles Dodgers. Cain is 9-for-18 with three extra-base hits and four RBIs versus Archer, who is 0-2 with a 6.60 ERA in three career starts against Milwaukee.

Saturday's Outcome

Orlando Arcia made sure the Milwaukee Brewers went home with a win after a long day.

Arcia hit his second homer of the game, a two-run drive in the 13th inning that sent the Brewers over the Pittsburgh Pirates 12-10 on Saturday night.

This one went Milwaukee 12 Pittsburgh 10, so a big OVER.

Friday's Outcome

Josh Bell finished off his historic May with two more hits and a nice OVER with Pittsburgh 9 and Milwaukee 4.
