About This Series

The Dodgers have won the last eight meetings and they are a top consensus play.  The line on this one has moved up from -151 to -191, an indication that the books feel the trend will continue Saturday.  Seven of the last nine games have seen double digit scoring.  A few books opened the total at 7.5 while most have just sat on the 8.

Recent Performance

The Dodgers have won seven of their last ten games.  They have scored six or more in six of those while allowing five or more runs only once in their last nine and three or fewer runs in seven of their last nine.

Pittsburgh have scored five or more runs in half of their last ten.  They have permitted five or more runs in half of those and their last four games.

Saturday Starting Pitcher Matchup

PITCHING MATCHUP: Dodgers LH Hyun-Jin Ryu (6-1, 1.52 ERA) vs. Pirates RH Joe Musgrove (3-4, 3.67)

Ryu, who will be making his 10th start of the season, is riding a 31-inning scoreless streak and coming off another dominant effort in which he permitted five hits over seven frames against Cincinnati on Sunday. The National League's ERA leader has yet to allow more than two runs in an outing and owns a 59:4 strikeout-to-walk ratio across 59 1/3 innings while holding opponents to a .190 batting average. Josh Bell is 1-for-6 with a homer versus Ryu, who is 5-0 with a 2.51 ERA in five career starts against Pittsburgh.

Musgrove ran into trouble late after cruising early but still managed to win his second straight start on Sunday in San Diego after surrendering four runs - three earned - over 6 1/3 innings. The 26-year-old once again is doing an exceptional job of keeping the ball in the park, allowing only two homers in 54 frames this season and a total of 14 in 169 1/3 innings since joining the Pirates in 2018. Musgrove permitted three runs - one earned - over 6 2/3 frames in a loss to the Dodgers on April 27.

Pirates are 3-12 in Musgroves last 15 starts following a Quality Start in his last appearance.

The OVER is  8-1 in the Pirates last 9 home games.

Both teams rank among the bottom ten bullpens and we see these starters coming out early.  Ryu is due as the Dodgers haven't allowed more than three runs to be scored in his last five starts.
