Even when a team is winning outright, this doesn't necessarily mean they are covering the spread.  Gambling911.com looks at recent game performance for specific teams to see who is winning out - the bookie or the bettor.  Here we look at the Syracuse Orange as of February 23.

Syracuse was a decent 15-11 Against The Spread on the season and ranks a strong 7 over the last ten Against The Spread.  That doesn't bode well for the books but gamblers will likely profit wagering on the Orange from hereon in.

Under normal circumstances, the Duke-Syracuse 6 pm EST matchup Saturday should have the Blue Devils -8 to -8.5, but these aren’t normal times as Zion Willams will be out for Duke. Instead, the line was -5 at the Orange.

Syracuse has issues of its own.  Orange coach Jim Boeheim was the behind the wheel when his vehicle struck and killed a pedestrian on a Syracuse highway following his team's victory against Louisville.  Authorities have initially ruled this a horrible accident. Boeheim will be coaching Saturday night, but one has to be concerned over the emotional impact here.

There are too many variables tied to this game to make for an easy bet either way.  Action was mostly balanced.
