Blue Jays vs. Astros Betting Preview - May 9, 2021

The Astros are 13-7 vs. the Blue Jays in the last 20 games with a Blue Jays win yesterday.  Houston is a -167 favorite, Toronto +143 with a total of 9.

The Astros pitching staff is 10th in MLB with a 3.79 ERA as a team.

Zack Greinke (2-1, 3.76) - Zack Greinke lasted just four innings Tuesday versus the Yankees, getting charged with three runs in a no-decision.  He previously allowed four runs on four hits and two walks with five strikeouts over four innings on Wednesday in a no-decision against the Mariners. 

Greinke is 4-4 with a 4.04 ERA in 12 games (10 starts) against the Blue Jays, against whom he will pitch for just the second time in the past 11 seasons. He had an eight-year gap between appearances against Toronto before a road start on June 8, 2019, during which he tossed six shutout frames as a member of the Arizona Diamondbacks.

Right-hander Nate Pearson (1-0, 6.00 ERA in 2020) is expected to get the nod for the Blue Jays on Sunday, making his first start of the season.
