New Laws
In May 2018, the US Supreme Court ruled that individual states may now permit sports betting once laws are amended at the local level. The reason for this is that most state laws currently prohibit sports wagering and amendments are necessary. Not all states will embrace the activity and only a handful are expected to offer mobile/online betting outside designated establishments such as casinos and race tracks. No matter, residence of most states are still able to access international sports gambling sites.
What About My State?

Sports betting won’t be on the November ballot, but a ballot initiative has been proposed for 2020.
Native American Casinos are already claiming they have the exclusive ability to operate casino-style games. “California voters have, on numerous occasions, confirmed the exclusive right of California tribal governments to operate casino-style games,” said Steve Stallings, chairman of the California Nations Indian Gaming Association. “Legalization of sports betting should not become a backdoor way to infringe upon exclusivity.”
Soccer Betting in My State
LA now has two Major League Soccer teams: Los Angeles FC and the Galaxy. They also have a franchise in San Jose. Bookmakers believe that the MLS exposure in these regions will get more folks tuning into (and betting) on other world leagues such as the Premier League.
