Can I Bet Sports From My Home in Mississippi?

While in-state licensed sportsbooks are not available on mobile devices from the comfort of your home, many top sportsbooks licensed outside of Mississippi are accessible to residents and those visiting the state.

Following a landmark decision by the US Supreme Court to overturn decades of prohibition, Mississippi was among the very first states to amend its own laws permitting sports wagering. 

The state only allows mobile betting on casino properties in Tunica and Biloxi as well as some tribal properties, and that's if the casino sportsbook provider offers it.

Pearl River Resort and Bok Homa Casinos is one of the few to offer a mobile sportsbook app, having launched back in February.  The site is called PRR Sports.

That mobile sports betting app allows guests to place bets from anywhere on the Bok Homa and Pearl River properties, including live in-play.

Be cautious though.  While the app should be accessible from locations like the restaurant and parking area, connectivity could become iffy the further one gets away from the casino itself. 

The day the app launched,  Director of Gaming Operations Neal Atkinson declared it an immediate success.

"This morning, since 10:00 we have had over 500 accounts created and it's become very very popular because it allows you to skip those lines and allows you to enjoy the game from your room, one of our wonderful restaurants, the bar, the poker table and even this summer beside the pool,” Atkinson said at the time.

Concerns over underage gambling have all but ensured any measures to legalize mobile betting statewide will have a tough time passing.
