One can bet the Kentucky Derby from a number of top online sites accessible to those living in Tennessee.

The state itself has just legalized sports betting online ONLY.  Horse betting over the Internet has long been permitted.

After a vote of approval in the House of Representatives, the Senate passed legislation that would permit online sports gambling that kicked off late in 2020.  Tennessee became the first state to allow online sports wagering only without any retail outlets (sportsbooks).

While Governor Bill Lee was not exactly in favor of permitting bets on sports, but vowed not to stand in the way.

"The governor has said he does not believe that the expansion of gambling is best, but he recognizes that many in the legislature found this to be an issue they want to explore further," said Laine Arnold, Lee's press secretary. "He plans to let this become law without his signature."

It has not exactly been the smoothest of starts with one sportsbook already having its licensed revoked for alleged money laundering.
