2023 College Football Betting Preview (Oklahoma Sooners)

Their 2022 Record was a disappointing 6-7 overall, 3-6 in Big 12, and they managed to go just 4-8 Against The Spread.  This represented the Sooners first losing campaign since 1998 (nearly 25 years).

This year the oddsmakers have Oklahoma winning 9.5 regular season games with the Under only slightly favored (-120 vs. -110 for the OVER).

There is still plenty of work to be done and lots of roster concerns but these Oklahoma Sooners should be improved.  There is also no Kansas State and Texas Tech, two teams that beat the Sooners last season.

Quarterback Dillon Gabriel aims to get the Sooners back on track in 2023.  Despite the lackluster season, Gabriel threw for 3,168 yards and 25 touchdowns while earning Big 12 Offensive Newcomer of the Year honors.  The Sooners also added five-star quarterback Jackson Arnold in their recruiting class just in case.

They still need new playmakers to emerge at running back and wide receiver for this team to be successful in 2023.

Head coach Brent Venables added 17 transfers -- nine to the Sooners 99th ranked defense that allowed 29.6 points per game.

Entering the game against Texas on October 7, the Sooners will hope to be 5-0, but 4-1 is possible with a game in Cincinnati on September 23.

Current Sooners Season Betting Information (2023)

Week 4 - Oklahoma easily took care of business against SMU and Tulane in Weeks 2 and 3.  Oklahoma's five interceptions on Saturday were the most for the Sooners in a game since 2003.

The Sooners enter their game against Cincinnati as a -14.5 favorite.  The number is moving in the right direction off the -13.5 as most of the action is on the Sooners here.

Week 1 - The Sooners open the 2023 season as a -33.5 favorite against an Arkanas State team that has gone 10-1 Against The Spread in September games over their last eleven.
