College Football – 2019 Week 6 Wise Guy Picks
The wise guys were at it again hitting on two of the three games we followed in Week 5 to turn another profit. If you’ve been paying attention since the start of the 2019 college football season you’d have a hefty bankroll in your account. It takes some time and a little effort, but in the end following the money on the college football betting lines at offshore sportsbooks can be lucrative. Sharp money attracts attention and forces books to react. And when they do you can join the action and put a few more bills in your pocket.

We targeted three games from last week’s schedule where sharp money impacted the line and two of them came out winners. Wise guys backed Michigan in its game against Rutgers and the move paid off in a big way. The maize and blue easily covered the spread after it ballooned to 27.5-points, knocking off the Scarlet Knights 52-0. Extra points if you also had Chris Ash as the first coach fired this season. Sharps also liked the under in the Washington State-Utah game, which was another winner. Wise guys don’t get em all right and backing North Texas in its matchup with Houston was a loser. The house doesn’t always win, but it does have to stay in business.
The Week 6 college football schedule offers up some great betting opportunities and we’ll take a look at a few games where sharp money has influenced the line. College Football Week 6 Wise Guy Picks
Purdue at Penn State ( -27.5 ), Saturday, Oct. 5, 12 p.m. ET
We still don’t know if Penn State is for real since the competition has been questionable at best. But the Nittany Lions have taken care of business and appear to be the biggest threat to Ohio State in the Big Ten East. PSU opened as a 24-point favorite for its tilt with Purdue and a majority of the early money backed the home team. That’s not surprising considering the Nittany Lions score 50 points per game and have a dynamic quarterback in Sean Clifford.
The public action wasn’t enough to move the spread to Penn State -27.5 so the wise guys must have gotten the jump early in this one. Purdue is without the services of Elijah Sindelar and Rondale Moore, its two biggest offensive threats, and the Boilermakers must face a defense that hasn’t allowed more than 13 points in a game this season. Wise guys are betting on a PSU cover in this one.
Utah State at LSU ( -28 ), Saturday, Oct. 5, 12 p.m. ET
We’ve said all along that squares rarely bump the line, and they certainly aren’t going to move it 4½ points. Coming off a bye week and facing Mountain West challenger Utah State, LSU opened -23.5 and that number quickly made its way to -28. Everyone was skeptical about the Tigers new offensive approach, but after four games and 230 points I think we can say the new scheme is working. Joe Burrow has thrown 17 touchdown passes and the Bayou Bengals have scored at least 45 points in every game.
That’s not a good sign for Utah State, which has the 104th ranked pass defense in the FBS. The Aggies do have a sneaky good offense and they are one of the better teams in the MWC, but that bias gets the Group of Five clubs every time. I don’t agree with the sharp action backing LSU and would wait for the number to go even higher before putting down on Utah State. But what do I know?
Northwestern at Nebraska ( -8 ), Saturday, Oct. 5, 4 p.m. ET
College football games are all about matchups. Nebraska didn’t match up against Ohio State last week, not many teams do, and the Huskers were embarrassed in their own building. On the flip side, Northwestern played Wisconsin tougher than any team this season. So, when the line opened at Nebraska -6.5 the public jumped all over the Wildcats. Instead of pushing the spread down, the line spiked to Nebraska -8.
Wise guys like the Huskers to rebound after that awful performance against the Buckeyes and Northwestern isn’t the same team that won the Big Ten West last year. Being successful starts at the quarterback position and the Nebraska has a big edge. Adrian Martinez stunk last week, but he’s a decent baller and better than anything NU has behind center. Is Martinez eight-points better than Hunter Johnson and Aidan Smith? Wise guys say yes.
