Dodgers and Red Sox Title Chances Shift Following Trade
The trade of Mookie Betts prompted an adjustment in next season's World Series odds.
"There are only about 10 players that can impact a team's futures odds and win total, and Mookie Betts is certainly one of them," said Robert Cooper, lines manager at SportsBetting.ag. "He's a five-tool, everyday player that might finally get the Dodgers over the hump. We're already seeing more L.A. money from pro bettors."
On Monday this week, SportsBetting had the Dodgers with 6/1 World Series odds, but they dropped to 4/1 following the trade. L.A.'s pennant odds fell from 3/1 down to 2/1, and the team's win total jumped two games from 98.5 to 100.5.
On the Red Sox side, their championship chances went from 25/1 to 33/1 and their victory total 88.5 to 86.5.
The Yankees remain the 2020 World Series favorites with 7/2 odds.
