First NFL QB Benched in 2022 Odds
Pittsburgh Steelers new quarterback, Mitch Trubisky, will be on the hot seat early. His odds of being benched were coming in at half those of the next likely quarterbacks, Baker Mayfield of the Carolina Panthers and Daniel Jones of the New York Giants.
QB battles played out during the preseason, and now we have our final list of 32 starters (kind of). But we certainly know that some will be on short leashes.
SportsBetting.ag has set odds on which signal caller will be the first sidelined due to poor performance (non-injury related), and the man replacing Ben Roethlisberger apparently has the shortest leash.
Steelers' starting quarterback (or perhaps not since Mike Tomlin hasn't officially named a starter) Trubisky tops the list with rookie Kenny Pickett breathing down his neck.
Trubisky was just voted a Steelers captain.
"All three quarterbacks have just been great, if I'm being honest, but Mitch is the guy we're riding with," defensive captain Cameron Heyward said Monday.
Mayfield pays 6-1 odds to be benched first.
Browns safety John Johnson was Mayfield’s teammate in Cleveland last year. His team takes on Carolina in Week 1. Johnson had nothing but good things to say about the former Browns quarterback.
“I think he’s confident,” Johnson said, via Scott Petrak of the Elyria Chronicle-Telegram. “That was probably a big thing that happened last year, maybe the confidence wavered a little bit. But looks confident, looks healthy, looks like he’s whipping the ball, so it’s going to be a challenge.”
Davis Mills rounds out the four candidates with the lowest odds. Mills was coming in at 7-1 odds.
