Updated Open Odds Exclude Tiger, Leader Holmes Pays $3300
JB Holmes sat atop The Open Championship leaderboard after Day 1 but oddsmakers don't think highly of his chances. They have him paying $3300 for every $100 bet or $330 for every $10 bet ahead of Day 2 play, with the betting window closing just before 2 am ET early morning Friday (or overnight Thursday).
Holmes drove the downwind 374-yard fifth hole to 12 feet for a two-putt birdie, and he ended with a 5-iron into the wind to 15 feet for a final birdie and a 5-under 66.
"You just have to accept the conditions over here and not get too greedy," Holmes said.

'Dr Doom's' Dire Crypto Exchange Warning as Bitcoin Begins Another Climb
The price of bitcoin was on the rise again, up 8.7% over the past 24 hours after a drop to $9250. The price had climbed as high as $10800 during the late afternoon Thursday Eastern Standard Time.
The turnaround comes on a day when "Dr Doom" issued his dire warning.
Few have been as outspoken against bitcoin and cryptocurrencies as Nouriel Roubini, a professor of economics at the New York University Stern School of Business and known as "Dr Doom" for his pessimistic outlook, who has recently stepped up his feud with Seychelles-registered bitcoin and crypto exchange BitMEX, suggesting it, and other major bitcoin exchanges, are involved in "systematic illegality."
"BitMEX insiders revealed to me that this exchange is also used daily for money laundering on a massive scale by terrorists and other criminals from Russia, Iran, and elsewhere," Roubini wrote in a blog post. "The exchange does nothing to stop this, as it profits from these transactions."

The Price of Bitcoin Had Fallen Following Congressional Testimony re: Facebook's Libra

Tiger Tracker
Tiger Woods entered this week's Open Championship at 18/1 odds. For the books, the best scenario would be for Tiger to play well into Sunday then ultimately lose. A competitive Tiger means a flood of bets coming in on the 2019 US Masters winner after each day of play.
Sadly, Woods isn't even remotely competitive starting Day 1.
Things could be far worse.
From the Express:
The 15-time major champion could be seen grimacing on his backswing.
Those grimaces reappeared throughout the front nine as Woods went in at the turn five-over par.
And some fans on social media were beginning to fear Woods’ chronic back injuries from years gone by were starting to take affect.
One fan tweeted: “His back is stiff-something is definitely wrong-he needs to stop hurting himself more and WD”

So Far Books Have to Be Delighted With Rory Day 1 Implosion
As the early favorite to win this week's British Open, Rory McIlroy looks like the favorite to have the worst performance.
McIlroy stepped up to the tee on his first hole and proceeded to rip a drive way out of bounds, hitting a fan in the stomach and breaking her cell phone.
