Women's World Cup Ratings Off to Roaring Start, up 11 percent over 2015
11:131pm ET - Great news for sportsbooks. Ratings for the 2019 Women's World Cup are up 11 percent over 2015, the last time this event took place.
This means more people are likely to bet on the Women's World Cup. This is especially true in the US where sports betting is now legal in a number of states. The exposure to sports wagering through various media outlets is high in all states, where the offshore sportsbooks are the beneficiaries.
The 2019 ratings are up 79 percent over eight years ago, and the tournament has only just begun.
The US Women's team romping over Thailand by scoring a record 13 goals should only help matters.
Distrust in US Dollar Moving Other Nations Towards Bitcoin
11:16 pm ET - More nations appear to be starting to see the folly of fiat currency. With growing calls for gold-backed currencies for international settlement, there may be an opportunity for Bitcoin to facilitate trade deals with far less manipulation than possible when using national currencies.
Evidence is mounting that countries are more distrusting of one another and in particular of the US dollar and its potential for manipulation. This is driving nations to seek out alternatives. Read More Here
NBA Tells Shaq to Pull Sportsbook Ad From Podcast
10:59 pm ET - An NBA spokesperson confirmed to bookies.com they have demanded Shaquille O’Neal’s podcast, The Big Podcast with Shaq, remove advertisements for the popular offshore sportsbook BetOnline.
BetOnline, which has been in business since 1999 and longer than just about any of the sportsbook companies obtaining licenses in various US states, had reportedly just signed on as a sponsor of the podcast. Details of the deal were not immediately known. Read More Here
USA Women Score 13 Goals vs. Thailand
9:00 pm ET - Alex Morgan tied the tournament record with five goals and the United States opened with a historic 13-0 rout of Thailand on Tuesday night. Samantha Mewis and Rose Lavelle each added a pair of goals for the United States, which broke the record for goals and margin of victory in a World Cup game.
Maine Casinos Took in a Record $144 Million Last Year
7:56 pm ET - Maine’s two casinos raked in close to $144 million last year, setting a state gambling record.
Maine is one of 12 states with record casino gambling last year, according to a report from the American Gaming Association released Tuesday.
“I don’t think we will continue to see the increases,” predicted Milt Champion, executive director of Maine’s gambling control unit. "There is only so much discretionary money, pretty soon you will see the casinos do a little bit less because sports wagering will come on board.”
“One impacts the other – it is very seldom that you see where there are big increases that just continue, continue, continue because there is only so much to go around.” Read More Here
Reasons to Buy Netent Stock
11:47 ET - CalvinAyre.com is bullish on Sweden online gambling firm Netent despite recent setbacks.
It’s at 5 year lows for reasons that have nothing to do with how it operates. The decline it’s been in since 2016 has pushed its dividend yield to over 8%. Regulatory revamps in Sweden have shredded sentiment in the stock. Payment blockings, bonus restrictions, and player self-exclusion regulations that require the option to be front, center and obvious on their games have been eroding its top line. The company had to leave the Swiss market recently because of regulatory issues as well. While regulations attack the top line, higher taxes have been eating into its bottom line.
And yet, zooming out and looking at 4-year trends, NetEnt keeps making more and more money every year.
Net income is up 54% since the end of 2015, back when the stock was at levels 184% higher than it is now.

The Warriors fell behind in the final minutes after leading throughout much of the game but managed to win in the last seconds by a single point.
The Warriors confirmed Kevin Durant probably has torn Achilles.
Warriors general manager Bob Myers said Durant will have an MRI on Tuesday to determine the severity of the injury.
"It's an Achilles injury," Myers said after the game, while holding back tears. "I don't know the extent of it. He'll have an MRI tomorrow. Prior to coming back he went through four weeks with a medical team, and it was thorough, and it was experts and multiple MRIs and multiple doctors, and we felt good about the process."
