Hot Baseball Betting Trends Tuesday May 8, 2021
Dodgers @ Pirates
The Pirates sat at the very bottom of the barrel in the Odds Department entering this season but managed to hold their own before falling several wins below the .500 mark as we enter the second week of June. Consider taking the Dodgers if you can get them at -190 or less in any game this week. Be sure to claim that free money on every sportsbook deposit you make.
- The Dodgers are 17-2 versus the Pirates in their last 19 meetings.
- Over is 40-14 in the last 54 meetings in Pittsburgh
Tuesday's line was coming in at -190 or higher, so not a game we will be on.
Astros @ Red Sox
The sportsbooks know that gamblers will jump all over the Under.
- The UNDER is 10-1 in the last 11 games of this series
Framber Valdez (1-0, 1.64) starts for Houston. Martin Perez (4-2, 3.09) starts for Boston. Valdez (1-0) allowed one earned run on five hits and two walks while striking out 10 across seven innings, earning the win over the Red Sox on Wednesday. Valdez struggled in the first inning, allowing two singles and walking in a run, before settling down.
Martin Perez blanked the Astros for 7 2/3 innings Thursday in the Red Sox's 5-1 win.
It's surprising that the total was so high at 9.5 but, thinking like an oddsmaker, we're going to go with the OVER 9.5 here. Note also that both the Astros and Red Sox have had six games where they scored five or more runs.
Mariners @ Tigers
Seattle had absolutely dominated Detroit in recent times. Despite the Tigers sitting a few games under the .500 mark, Detroit was able to sweep Seattle on the road last month. The Mariners are a .500 team at the moment. Seattle was listed at -112 and history definitely is in their favor.
Marco Gonzales (1-3, 5.01) will start for Seattle. Marco Gonzales yielded one run over four innings on Tuesday in a no-decision against the Athletics. Prior to that performance, Gonzales held the Astros to two runs off five hits over six innings in a loss. Don't be fooled by the 5.01 ERA. Gonzales is due for a win and Detroit might offer the perfect opportunity.
The Tigers will start Matthew Boyd (2-6, 3.90). Boyd tossed 4 2/3 innings, giving up five runs off five hits, walking three and striking out four, in a no-decision Tuesday versus the Brewers. He had a loss prior to that game. Tuesday we will suggest a play on Seattle at this price (-112).
- Take away this year's sweep by Detroit, Seattle is 9-1 in the last ten meetings and 15-3 in the last 18.
- Only one of the last nine games have gone OVER in this series.
Royals @ Angels
Two teams were sitting around the .500 mark.
- Royals are 5-11 in the last 16 meetings.
Cubs @ Padres
The Cubs are a few wins above the .500 mark while the Padres own a good 36-24 record.
