The state House had approved the bill on Saturday.

Illinois's state legislature worked into the weekend to get the measure passed.

It is now heading to Illinois Gov. J.B. Pritzker's desk where he is widely expected to sign it.

Mobile and retail sports betting would be available through casinos, race tracks and sports venues (including ball parks such as Wrigley Field and stadiums like Soldier Field) in what is one of the most populated US states wth the third most populated city of Chicago.

While a controversial integrity fee has been scratched from Senate Bill 690, colleges and sports leagues will be provided with some control over types of wagers that can be offered.

Bets on Illinois college teams like the Fighting Illini and Loyola Ramblers will be prohibited.

It appears that Draftkings and FanDuel will be blocked from entering Illinois sports betting for the first 18 months.
