In May 2018, the US Supreme Court overturned decades of sports betting prohibition and ushered in an era where folks across the country can now place sports wagers legally.
While it is indeed possible the powerful California tribes could opt to allow sports betting, most have zero plans to offer mobile outside the reservation. Their rationale is that once folks can start betting from their own living rooms, there will be little incentive to come to the casino itself.
A more recent proposal called for statewide mobile but with in-person registration that would force individuals to visit a casino at least once. But just because the San Manuel Band of Mission Indians is for such legislation doesn't mean the other tribes are. For the better part of ten years, the tribes could not agree on legalizing online poker. The special interests, in particular PokerStars, ensured the fate of Web cardrooms in the state.
A tribal initiative that would have legalized retail wagering only at Indian casinos and four racetracks has already qualified for the November 2022 ballot.
Both referendums failed miserably in the end.

Rams Beat the Colts Week 4 (October 1, 2023)
Action on the Rams-Colts game was about half that of the top games this week in the NFL. LA had seen around a half million dollars at the sportsbook we monitor. Action was 71%, down from 77% earlier in the week.
The line only moved to Rams -1.5 and -2 the final minutes leading up to the game.
Chargers Get Second Straight Win (October 1, 2023)
The LA Chargers ruined the party for Las Vegas with the surprise return of Derek Carr.
Khalil Mack set a franchise single-game record with six sacks, Justin Herbert accounted for three touchdowns and the Los Angeles Chargers held on to beat the Las Vegas Raiders 24-17 on Sunday.
San Francisco 49ers Still Undefeated After Win Over AZ (October 1, 2023)
The San Francisco 49ers beat the Arizona Cardinals at home 35-16 Sunday to start 2023 4-0. They are now 3-1 Against The Spread.
Over a million dollars was bet on average at the top books on San Francisco (77%).
The line was San Francisco -14 across the board and much of the week. It wasn't until Saturday the number moved up to 14.5 and even 15. That still wasn't enough to cover the spread.
Chargers Finally Get a Win (September 25, 2023)
The LA Chargers beat the now 0-3 Minnesota Vikings in Week 3. Keenan Allen had arguably his best game of his career.
He became the first NFL player to register 15 receptions and throw a passing touchdown in a game, his 18 catches were the most in a single contest in Chargers history and his 9,689 career receiving yards are tops for a Chargers wideout.
Allen also now has the most games with 15 catches in NFL history with three, breaking a tie with four other players.
Giants vs. 49ers TNF Week 3
The 49ers were seeking their second 3-0 start in 25 seasons. For this week at least they were the favorites to win the 2024 Super Bowl at 6-1 odds.
The 49ers beat Giants 36-9 the last time they met on Sept. 27, 2020, in New York.
Deebo Samuel is the player to watch and there will be plenty of prop bets available. The 49ers wide receiver had six catches for 63 yards and five carries for 38 yards and a TD last week. It was his first regular-season game with at least 100 yards from scrimmage since Week 4 against the Rams last season. He did it eight times in 2021.
This one opened at Giants -9.5 and moved up to -10.5 as a result of the action coming in on San Francisco. 76% to 83% of the action was still coming in on San Francisco at the 10.5 number. The line has not crossed over the 10.5.
The total has gone from 45 to 43.5. Action was balanced on the total.
