The Big Sky Conference Tournament champion Eagles (16-7) open the NCAA Tournament as a 14-seed against national power and third-seeded Kansas (20-8) in Indianapolis.
The Eagles and the 11th-ranked Jayhawks are part of the tournament’s West Region, which features No. 1 overall seed Gonzaga (26-0).
EWU was one of the nation’s highest-scoring teams (78 points per game) in 2020-21.
The Eags have gone to the NCAA Tournament two other times. They received a No. 13 seed in 2015 and fell to Georgetown and in 2004 they were a No. 15 seed and fell to Oklahoma State.
