Those teams odds would dramatically improve with such a trade.
BetOnline has yet to release odds on a Jimmy Butler trade but do have division win odds on each of the teams he's mentioned: Both the Knicks and Nets winning the Atlantic Division were set at long +5000 odds, and those would be shortened with Butler coming on board.
The Clippers winning the Pacific Division would pay 33/1 odds.
Minnesota though has no intention of trading the star guard.
At 7 pm EST Dave Mason of BetOnline released the following odds:
From ESPN.com:
Butler wants a trade to a team that plans to sign him to a five-year, maximum contract that could be worth $190 million in the summer, and his list could expand based upon the Timberwolves and rival teams' willingness to negotiate a trade for him, league sources said.
Mark Miami off the list. They’ve been in touch with Minnesota but don't have the necessary salary cap.
Butler is a four-time NBA All-Star, a four-time NBA All-Defensive Team honoree, and a two-time All-NBA Team honoree. In 2015, he was named the NBA Most Improved Player.
On June 22, 2017, Butler was traded, along with the rights to Justin Patton (the 16th pick in the 2017 NBA draft), to the Minnesota Timberwolves in exchange for Zach LaVine, Kris Dunn and the rights to Lauri Markkanen (the 7th pick in the 2017 NBA draft).
Minnesota made the Playoffs last season, thanks in part to Butler, who hit four 3-pointers among his 28 points in Game 3 of the first-round playoff series against the Rockets.
