Kari Lake's Lead Grows in AZ, Bets Not Graded: Could Cheney Race Be Closer Than Odds Suggest?

Kari Lake continued to gain on her opponent in the Arizona GOP Primary just 24 hours after polls closed.

While Lake has declared herself the winner, the AP hasn't called it, nor have the folks at BetOnline.  Once it's official that she's won, the bets will be graded.  Lake was as big as an -800 favorite to win but the race was unusually close.

And that brings us to Congresswoman Liz Cheney's Primary later this month.

Polls in Wyoming have Cheney way down but the incumbent actually had shorter odds NOT to be re-elected (-600) than Lake had to win her primary (-800).

Cheney serves as Vice Chair of the January 6th Committee, which has been holding hearings regarding the 2021 attack on the nation's Capitol.  Cheney has also claimed that former U.S. President Donald Trump made a purposeful choice to violate his oath of office and that "he refused to defend our nation and our constitution".

This hasn't sat well with many Wyomingites.  Trump routed the current U.S. President, Joe Biden, in that state.  He received 69.94% of the vote share there, making it his strongest win in the election.

Some polls have her main Primary opponent, Harriet Hageman, up to 20 points ahead of her.

Cheney received a standing oviation in her home state earlier in the week during a groundbreaking ceremony for Mineta-Simpson Institute at Heart Mountain Interpretive Center in Powell.
