Liberty- From ESPN.com: “The Flames are a terrific shooting team. They hit 56.9 percent of 2-point field goals (eighth in nation) and 77.9 percent of free throws, which is the best of any team in the field, while making 8.8 3-point field goals per game. Liberty is 349th in adjusted tempo, forcing teams to defend for 20 seconds on average, patiently dissecting their opponents, flourishing against man-to-man, zone or press defenses. The Flames feasted in the paint against A-Sun competition.”

Mississippi State- From ESPN.com: "This team is experienced and can score (77.3 PPG). The Bulldogs prosper in the open court, sending their post players to the rim and setting up perimeter shots for Weatherspoon and Peters. They score 1.1 points per possession in transition. When the shots aren't falling, Mississippi State attacks the offensive glass with tenacity, snagging 34.7 percent of offensive rebounds (21st in nation) to create second-chance scoring opportunities."

Predictions

From the Clarion Ledger: "The picks are slightly stacked against the favorite, Mississippi State. ESPN's Jay Bilas picked the Bulldogs, though, and he gave a little more than just a prediction on the game. He gave a full explanation on his pick for ESPN+ subscribers. He said he likes Liberty's pack-line defense that limits opponents' ability to get out in transition, which is a big part of Mississippi State's offense. That's probably why analysts and writers are falling in love with the trendy upset pick."

Action vs. Line Movement

This line was coming off the 7 to Mississipi State -6 but not as aggressively as we would have thought.

Line

Sagarin indicates the line should be Bulldogs -10.
