The Minnesota Twins have traded infielder Eduardo Escobar to the Arizona Diamondbacks for three minor leaguers, it was announced Friday.
Escobar, 29, has a .274/.338/.514 slash line this season and leads the majors with 37 doubles.
The Diamondbacks trail the Los Angeles Dodgers by 1.5 games in the NL West entering Friday's slate.
Their odds of winning the World Series this year were at 25/1.
The Chicago Cubs acquired left-hander Cole Hamels from the Texas Rangers on Friday for two minor league pitchers and a player to be named later.
Hamels, 34, has a 5-9 record and a 4.72 ERA this season but has been much better on the road -- away from hitter-friendly Texas -- where he has a 2.93 ERA. He has given up 16 home runs over 59 innings at home and seven home runs over 55 1/3 innings on the road.
The Cubs were at 7/1 odds of winning the World Series this year.
The Mariners bolstered their bullpen Friday afternoon by acquiring right-handed reliever Sam Tuivailala from the St. Louis Cardinals in exchange for minor league pitcher Seth Elledge.
Further, late Friday, veteran infielder Asdrubal Cabrera is being traded from the Mets to the Philadelphia Phillies, sources tell ESPN.
The deal is pending a physical.
