Sports Betting in Kentucky

A bipartisan group of lawmakers were working on legislation that would bring sports betting to the state of Kentucky following the US Supreme Court ruling to shoot down decades long prohibition back in May.  While nothing has come of this just yet, the appetite appears to be there.

Democratic State Senator Morgan McGarvey, of Louisville, is one of those who has been pushing efforts to legalize sports wagering in the state.
"We're trying to put together a responsible framework so we can have sports betting here in Kentucky, we can benefit from it."

Former Jefferson County Republican Party Chairman Bill Stone agrees: "This is bipartisan. It makes absolute sense and it could be a great source of funds for my favorite, higher education."

Nothing will be decided until at least 2019 when the legislature is back in session.
