With the Bills coming in as the -2.5 favorite to win in LA against the defending Super Bowl champion Rams, the winning margin of Buffalo 1-6 points pays a generous $330 for every $100 bet.  That represents the smallest payout.  Besides the Rams to win by 1-6 pts paying out $350, all other Winning Margin of Victory prop bets pay $550 and up.

The Bills started gaining favorite status as Matthew Stafford started to battle an elbow injury.

Last year, Stafford threw for 41 touchdowns and 4,886 yards.

Rams head coach Sean McVay said Sunday that he remained optimistic.

"I think anytime that you've played as long and are as tough as he is," McVay said at the time, "I don't know if you're ever truly pain-free, but the goal would be for Sept. 8 and really looking toward 17 games, then hopefully some games after that if we earn that opportunity."

Only four times in the last 20 years has the defending Super Bowl champion come in as an underdog.

This week, CBS Sports analyst Brady Quinn ranked Bills quarterback Josh Allen as the third-best quarterback in the league currently.

“I think the world of this young man,” Quinn said, but questions how well Allen will respond to new offensive coordinator Ken Dorsey.

“There is a feeling-out process there,” Quinn said.

Line Movement and Action Analysis

LA opened at -1 back in May and that line has since moved to +2.5.  While BetUS has hit the +3, few books have.

As a -2.5 favorite, as much as 85% of the spread money was coming in on Buffalo and 67% on the moneyline.

Because these are two of the top offensive teams in the league, the betting public will be all over the OVER, no matter how high that number might be.  Unless this game gets totally insane, the oddsmakers will be trying to get money on the OVER at a high number.  In this case, it was as big as 53.5.  They've taken this one down to 52 at some books.

Three of the last five NFL kickoff games have seen scores of more than 53 total points scored, but that means there were two that have not.
