Key Massachusetts Lawmakers Not on Board With Sports Betting
We may need to be scratching Massachusetts from offering sports betting from the state. While residents have access to sports betting with a few dozen international sites, not all lawmakers want sportsbooks operating in-state. “I wouldn’t bet on it,” said Sen. Eric Lesser, who as co-chair of the Joint Committee on Economic Development and Emerging Technologies has been studying sports betting in preparation for possibly writing a bill to expand yet another form of gaming in Massachusetts.
Along with House co-chair Rep. Ann-Margaret Ferrante, Lesser said Thursday at a State House News Forum on sports betting that he and Ferrante are still in listening mode and have not yet settled on questions like whether to allow online bets, whether to take bets on college games or what tax rate to set on wagers.
“We’re still in the fact-finding stage of all this. As I think has been well-reported, this is a complex issue,” Ferrante said. “It is an issue we want to be very diligent with and we want to make sure that if Massachusetts is to go forward with this, that we do it properly.”

Parx Leads the Way in PA
Pennsylvania may be having second thoughts about getting into the sports betting market.
It was a down month in April for the new sector there as PA reported a 23.5% decline.
Parx Casino led the way with $907,298 in total sports betting revenue, but a drop from 7.8% to $907,298.
Total revenue fell to $4.2m (£3.3m/€3.8m), with handle down 17.4% to $36.8m, for a hold of 11.5% overall.
This comes as the total number of sportsbooks went up from 6 to 8.

Features like using Apple’s Face ID for logins can also streamline access to apps.
