Monday Night Football Betting Preview

Two teams struggling to remain afloat will wrap week 9, the Tennessee Titans will travel to Dallas to face the Cowboys on Monday Night.

Although they are not currently considered elite teams, this game will pair two of the best defenses in the NFL season. Tennessee's defense is ranked third while the Dallas Cowboy's defense is ranked second. The experts at www.AcePerHead.com have taken notice of these dominant defenses and have set the total for the game at 40, a comparatively low total compared to other week 9 matches.

Both teams are coming off their bye weeks, so we can expect them to be rested and healthy. Dallas has been consistent at being inconsistent this season, they have not lost back to back games, but seem to have a hard time getting tracking. However, throughout the month of October, they have shown encouraging signs of improvement with the addition of Amari Cooper, and they have yet to lose a home game. This coupled with the fact that the Titans have lost three straight games has prompted oddsmakers to put the Boys as a 4.5-point favorite.

Some feel this spread is a little too wide to comfort, I, however, feel this is a fair line, especially when we look at historical records of the Cowboy's performance the week after their bye week. Dallas is 9-4 SU and 10-3 ATS in their last 13 outings after a bye week.

Another interesting stat for Dallas, if the fact that in those same 13 matches after their bye week, they have gone over 11 times. Now, most bettors will look at the stats for this season alone, and because both teams are known for their strong defenses, they will side with the under in this game, even at such a low number as 40.

Bookie agents know they cannot rely solely on the performance of the current season, some trends span several seasons which offer important clues as to what can be expected in a game. But, even if we were only to consider the current season, bookies know that Tennessee has faced some of the worse offensive franchises in the NFL this season, which can skew their defensive numbers.

Clearly, some bettors are experienced enough to understand that you can't take a number at face value, and they will cease the value on the over bet, and this is fine. Because Ezekiel Elliot is due to bounce back with the help of Amari Cooper, which should make it a little easier for this game to go over. However, most sports gamblers will not realize this and take the under, which, if I am correct, would mean a massive payday for online bookie agents.

When it comes to the spread, the opportunity for profiting is not as clear as with the total, 4.5 points is a tricky number, most predictions have the Boys winning by 3. But I do feel the Cowboys offense is on the rise while the Titans continue to struggle, so I still think Dallas will cover the spread if for no other reason than the fact that they have been so strong at home.
