Opening the traditional Monday Night Football Week 1 twin bill has the Detroit Lions hosting the New York Jets in Motor City. By this time, several major stories will have already played out in prior Week 1 action, but this game has many of it’s own storylines.

Perhaps the biggest storyline is Jets QB Sam Darnold, who won the starting job, in turn sending Teddy Bridgewater packing to the Big Easy. The third overall pick in the 2018 NFL draft, and possibly the highest touted quarterback coming out this year, Darnold showed Coach Todd Bowles enough during OTA’s and preseason to name the QB his opening day starter.
