Still trying to make up for lost time due to the COVID-19 outbreak, NASCAR will hold a double-header of Cup Series races this weekend at Pocono Raceway. We’ll kick things off with Saturday’s Pocono Organics 325 followed Sunday with the Pocono 350. This series of races isn’t new to the schedule, though. The back-to-back was set up by NASCAR last October, so it hasn’t been thrust on the drivers.  Bookmaker is offering a generous welcome bonus with a maximum of $1000.

The timing of the races could have been better. No one could foresee last week’s GEICO 500 getting postponed a day leading to a short week ahead of a busy weekend. Everyone has become accustomed to the turbulent times with the weekend races being the 11th and 12th since NASCAR’s reboot on May 17. Kyle Busch has owned Pocono recently so it’s not a surprise to see him at the top of the odds chart. Visit BookMaker.eu for a complete updated list of odds and to place your wager.

Coming off the longest track at Talladega, drivers face another endurance test this week. The 2.5-mile Pocono Raceway, also known as the “tricky triangle,” offers a different layout to drivers with each turn modeled after a turn from a different track. Adding to the excitement is that no turn is the same and the lengths of the straightaways are different. The good news is that they have only 130 laps making up the 325 miles.

The unique design of the track makes the setup of the vehicle and the pit crew’s ability to make adjustments more crucial than at most other tracks, which is oftentimes the difference between winning and having a bad day.

Following last week’s win at Talladega, his second straight on the 2.66 mile tri-oval, many are asking whether or not Ryan Blaney is the new king of super speedway racing. Though not technically a superspeedway, Pocono has the length required. Still, oddsmakers aren’t buying it with Blaney well down the list. We see a lot of the same names at the top of the board. Kyle Busch opened as a slight favorite over Kevin Harvick with Martin Truex Jr. close behind.

The top six are tightly-bunched on the odds board with a significant drop after that. The course can lead to some drastic events, but for the most part the top drivers tend to take the checkered flag. We’ll see if the oddsmakers got it right.

Pocono Organics 325 Preview

We are halfway through the Cup Series season and Kyle Busch has yet to win a race. This is a guy who won 27 times in the previous five seasons and was the Cup Series champion last year. He’s won at least once in every year he’s been a fulltime Cup Series driver. You have to think it’s coming, and there’s no better place than Pocono.

Kyle’s been solid with three wins in the last five races on this track and seven straight top-10 finishes. His brother has been pretty good, too. Kurt Busch also has three wins at Pocono, though the last came back in 2016. He placed ninth at Talladega giving him six top-10s in the last seven starts. The resume hasn’t been impressive recently at Pocono making Kurt a good alternate market buy.

The best drivers usually prevail on the tricky triangle course. The reason is they have the best pit crews that can make adjustments on the fly. Sure, there is the occasional upset, but the outright winner is likely to come from the top six on the odds list.

Harvick is one of the six and is still in search of his first victory at Pocono. It’s hard to believe he’s raced here 38 times and never taken the checkered flag. He’s been close, though, finishing as runner-up four times in his last 11 starts as part of his nine top-10s. Is this the week Harvick finally breaks through?

As far as longshots go Kurt Busch is a serious candidate. Blaney is riding a high after his first win and proved deadly on long tracks with his Talladega victory. Also look for Aric Almirola to do some damage. With two straight top-5s after a podium finish at Talladega and a pair of top-10s in his last four Pocono races, Almirola offers a nice payday.
