The New Orleans Saints proved on Monday night that they can win with stellar defense, and that victory over the Panthers solidified their spot at the top of the updated Super Bowl LIII odds board at BookMaker.eu.

With their offense struggling, the Saints turned to the their D, which has been one of the best in the NFL over the last six weeks, to throw a blanket over Cam Newton, as the Panthers’ slide continues. They aren’t officially eliminated, but after losing six in a row the Panthers are down with the Redskins on the odds board. The Chargers, Texans and Steelers all improved their odds with Week 15 wins, but the biggest gainer on the list is the Indianapolis Colts, who are now +6600 to win Super Bowl LIII.

We know who’s not going to win the final game of the 2018 season after five more clubs were officially eliminated from playoff contention, taking them off the board. Cincinnati, Denver, Detroit, Green Bay and the New York Giants joined the eight teams that had already played themselves out of contention for the Lombardi Trophy.

Here’s a look at the current Super Bowl LIII odds at BookMaker.eu after Week 15 of the 2018 NFL regular season.

There is no perfect team in the NFL and all the clubs still in contention have their faults. But the Saints look like the best all-around team after showing they have a defense that can win games. New Orleans doesn’t need Drew Brees to throw for 400 yards and four touchdowns to win, and it’s a good thing because he hasn’t come close to doing that over the last three outings.

Still, the Saints won two of those by playing a brand of defense we aren’t used to seeing in the Big Easy. They haven’t allowed more than 17 points in six straight games and since Week 4 they lead the NFL in fewest points allowed with 39 sacks and 21 takeaways in that time.

The No. 2 team on the list has shown some flaws, but at least the Rams have a few games to figure it out before the playoffs. They failed to score a touchdown in a loss to the Bears two weeks ago and facing a desperate Eagles club on Sunday night they were outplayed. Another misstep along the way could cost them a first-round bye. That shouldn’t happen with the Cards and Niners on the schedule, but this has been a wacky season.

With a win over the Chiefs on Thursday, the Chargers are close to cracking the foursome that has owned the top of the odds board for most of the season. The Bolts improved their odds to +800 and trail the Patriots for the fourth favorite. Houston moved ahead of the Pats for the No. 2 seed in the AFC and improved its odds, yet the Texans have yet to clinch the AFC South or a playoff spot.

One team to keep an eye on and that still has plenty of value is the Colts, who are +6600. Their improved defense pitched a shutout last week against Dallas for their seventh win in eight games. Their playoff future will come down to a Week 17 tilt with Tennessee as long as they take care of the Giants this week. The Steelers improved their odds by ending a three-game losing streak with a victory over New England.

Don’t give up on the defending champs just yet. Philadelphia’s win over the Rams kept them alive for the NFC East title as well as a wild card spot and they turned to last year’s playoff hero Nick Foles once again after Carson Wentz was injured. Does he have another magical run in him to get the Eagles into the tournament?

Five more teams came off the board after being officially eliminated from playoff contention. The Bengals and Broncos dropped from the AFC while the Lions, Packers and Giants shortened the list of contenders in the NFC.
