NFL Betting – 2019 Week 12 Wise Guy Picks
It was another good week on our wise guy picks with two of the three games we followed paying off at the betting window. Overall this season they have been right more times than not putting some serious coin in our bank accounts. It’s not just the spread in NFL games we need to watch. Paying close attention to the total can prove to be profitable, like it was in a couple of games last week. There might be a few more chances to cash a winning ticket on the over/under this week. Let’s find out.

We can now start paying closer attention to division standings and playoff races as we inch closer to the end of the season. The Patriots have the best record in the AFC but many feel the Baltimore Ravens are the best team. Meanwhile, the 49ers bounced back from their first loss of the season with a win over the Cardinals in a game our wise guys backed the over. That proved to be a winner with the teams combining for 62 points. The Niners host the 8-2 Green Bay Packers this week on Sunday Night Football.
Betting the over in the Jets-Redskins game also proved to be a winner as the teams easily surpassed the total of 37.5 in New York’s 34-17 victory. The Bears cost us a second straight perfect week by falling to the Rams on Sunday night. Chicago opened +8 and the line tumbled to +5 by kickoff. It didn’t matter because the Rams won 17-7 to cover in either instance.
It’s the last week for byes with the final four teams taking a hiatus in Week 12. That still leaves us plenty of chances to win money at online sportbooks, so let’s get to it by following wise guy plays. NFL Week 12 Wise Guy Picks
Indianapolis Colts at Houston Texans ( -3.5, 45.5 )
Somebody has to win the AFC South and one of these teams will be in the driver’s seat at the conclusion of Thursday night’s game. Houston opened as a 6-point home favorite and was backed by over 60 percent of the early action. While the public wasn’t scared after the Texans blowout loss to Baltimore last week, wise guys were. The spread went against the public and dropped to Houston -3.5.
One game doesn’t define a season and means nothing when the next week rolls around. But the Colts are getting sharp action even though they will be without leading rusher Marlon Mack. Indy is coming off a thrashing of Jacksonville and the Colts beat the Texans, 30-23, earlier this season. Indy has won four of the last five meetings and is 4-1 ATS in those matchups. Three of those wins came with Jacoby Brissett as the starting quarterback.
Tampa Bay Buccaneers at Atlanta Falcons ( -4, 51 )
Wise guys are playing with the total in this NFC South confrontation. The number hit the board at 54.5, which seemed reasonable for teams that have plenty of offensive potential. The public thought so, too, with a majority of the play on the over. Instead of the total spiking in response to the public, the number came down to 51 in a clear sign that sharps aren’t expecting the required number of points.
Neither team has done much defensively this year. The Bucs are last in points allowed per game and the Falcons rank 26th. However, Atlanta’s win streak was boosted by its defense. Coming off their bye, the Falcons stifled Drew Brees and the Saints in a 26-9 road win. They held the Panthers to a field goal last week and look like a different club. And it’s hard to trust Jameis Winston with the Bucs offense.
Dallas Cowboys at New England Patriots ( -6, 45.5 )
It’s a subtle move but one that didn’t go unnoticed. New England was positioned as a 7-point favorite in this game and got plenty of early support on the opening line. When Tom Brady speaks people listen. His remarks about the team’s offense have some people concerned. That could be a reason why the line fell off a key number to Pats -6. There was also some wise guy action forcing a dip.
The Pats were shredded in a loss to Baltimore and looked vulnerable against Philadelphia. That should be enough for the Boys to score some points and keep this one close. Dallas has the NFL’s top offense and scores 28.6 points per game. Wise guys are counting on that being enough to play within the spread.
