The Preseason So Far
Houston
The Texans dropped their first game of the preseason while on the road to the Green Bay Packers. Week two saw them hosting the Detroit Lions and gave them a much sought out win.
The Texans are seeking another win this week against the Cowboys in the hopes of taking the lead in the AFC South where they are currently tied with the Tennessee Titans.
Cowboys
Dallas is currently in second place in the NFC East with a 1-1 record. Although second place might make it seem like they are par with Houston, the truth is the only reason they are in second place is because of how badly the other teams have been playing.
NFC East leader is the New York Giants, and they have won all 3 games this preseason, so there is no chance that Dallas will climb to the number one spot with a win over Houston.
Much like their rivals this Saturday, the Cowboys lost in week one against the 49'ers of all teams, they did manage to redeem themselves somewhat last week by beating the LA Rams last Saturday in Hawaii.
Game Preview
Dallas has been struggling offensively so far this preseason. They scored 9 points against San Francisco in week one, and they only managed to score 14 points against the Rams last week.
This week they will face additional challenges as their start RB Elliot won't be on the field, and Amari Cooper could potentially miss this game as well as he deals with a heel strain, although he claims he can play it remains to be seen if the coaches will allow him to.
With two of their strongest running game players out Dallas' passing game will need to improve to sustain the team. This means that tight end Jason Witten and wide receiver Michael Gallup will be under pressure to deliver. Defensively the Cowboys are doing better, as neither of their opponents was able to score big against them. So, this could be the one saving grace Dallas has this Saturday.
Houston, on the other hand, has shown their offensive chops in the first two games of the preseason.
Although they lost to Green Bay in week one, it was a close game as they lost 26-28. Last week against Detroit they once again proved they can move the ball down the field and score big. In last week's game, they scored 30 points against the 23 points of the Lions.
If the Cowboy's defense can put the brakes on the Texans offense, then this game might not end up being a totally humiliating experience for Dallas. However, we can't deny Houston has a better team all around, especially on the offensive side, which is where Dallas is severely lacking.
