Following the firing of Canucks coach Bruce Boudreau this week, there are fresh odds for which ice general will be the next to fall.

At the outset of the season, Boudreau had 66-1 odds to be fired first. But by November, he was the favorite at 5-1.

SportsBetting.ag has set odds on the next NHL coach canned, and there are six names with better than 10-1 odds.

Among them, Dallas Eakins of Anaheim. The Ducks are seen as being in the middle of a rebuilding process, thus Eakins could be given some degree of slack.

Sportsnet's Ryan Dixon also has Eakins job security at the highest risk.

Pat Verbeek — who’s been on the job about one week short of a year in Anaheim — did pick up the club option on Dallas Eakins' contract before this season. However, with no deal in place for next year and club where it is, you wonder if the writing is on the wall.

Dixon is more bullish on Craig Berube of St. Louis, even though he's got the third shortest odds of being fired next at SportsBetting.ag. Dixon has him in the middle of the pack among head coaches.

When you take over a struggling team in-season and that squad goes on to win the Cup as the Blues did in the spring of 2019, you buy yourself a lot of credibility. Even if things get a little turbulent in St. Louis, Craig Berube could well be there through the end of the three-year contract extension he inked last February.
