Paris and Liverpool Host Important UEFA Champions League Matches
UEFA Champions League action is back, and we have a couple of amazing games on schedule for this Wednesday, for the Round of 16. Paris Saint-Germain will host the young talent of Borussia Dortmund, at the Parc des Princes Stadium in Paris, while in England, at Anfield, Liverpool will host an always tough opponent, Atletico Madrid. Both games will kick-off at 3:00 pm Eastern Time, and they will both define a team to advance to quarterfinals, as these are 2nd leg games.
Both home teams lost in the away game a few days back, so these will be highly anticipated and exciting matches, where the locals need to go out and leave their lives on the pitch, to try to turn things around and fight for a ticket to the next stage.
One important thing to mention here, sadly, regarding the latest news about the Coronavirus worldwide outbreak, is that, in the case of the PSG vs. Borussia Dortmund game, it will be played behind closed doors, and no fans will be able to attend, after Parisian police announced this measure on Monday. On the other hand, things in the UK are still a bit more under control, so the UK government has decided to let things go and allow fans to attend Liverpool vs. Atletico Madrid, and what they’ve done is ask fans to just follow certain rules and requirements to avoid complications. Of course, the most important factor was asking people who feel sick or are experiencing symptoms, to stay home.
Paris Saint Germain vs. Borussia Dortmund
Erling Haaland is one of the names we will never forget from now on. This young Norwegian player made his move for Salzburg to Dortmund and he started scoring right away, doing it twice against the great Keylor Navas in the 1st leg of this series, back in Germany. Kylian Mbappe and the rest of the PSG squad did what they could, but couldn’t get the tie in the end; however, one important fact is that they did manage to score 1 goal away, and that can be a factor for this game in Paris. A 1-0 score would be enough for PSG to move ahead, but it’ll be tough to keep the clean sheet. In fact, we expect to see quite a few goals in this match.
Liverpool vs. Atletico Madrid
Jurgen Klopp and his Liverpool are the UEFA Champions League reigning champs, plus, in the English Premier League, the Reds have an outstanding lead and are close to becoming champions for the first time in EPL history. One thing in their advantage is that they will have fans to support them, contrary to PSG’s case back in Paris. However, Atletico Madrid did a great job in the first leg, scoring an early goal and then doing what they do best, which is defending and taking the ball away from their opponent. Liverpool didn’t get to score in Madrid, and that could have its consequences this Wednesday, definitely giving an advantage to the Spanish team, besides the 1-0 lead. Liverpool are favorite to win their match at home, but this is a tough one for sure.
