Player Value to a Point Spread in the NBA

Betonline has released some great infographics related to a particular player's value when it comes to determining the point spread in an NBA matchup.

Giannis Antetokounmpro getting injured, as an example, would result in 6 to 7 points being shed off the point spread.

Antetokounmpro plays for the Bucks.  As such, if the Bucks were taking on the Pistons in Detroit, the current line should have Milwaukee as a -4.5 favorite here.  The books actually had the Bucks at -8.5 heading into Game 3 Saturday. 

Assuming they were to miss, that line should drop down to -2.5, maybe even -1.5 favoring Milwaukee. 

BetOnline only has three players worth 6 to 7 points in the NBA, James Hardin and Russell Westbrook are the other two. 

Seven players are listed as Tier 2, including Stephen Curry of the Golden State Warriors and Joel Embiid of the Sixers.   Embiid's injury situation has had an adverse effect on the spread in the Sixers-Nets series.

BetOnline goes on to note Tier 3 and 4 players with a value between 1 and 4 points.
