Andrew Yang

Bad News for Andrew Yang With Two Weeks to Go

Eric Adams has moved ahead of Andrew Yang in a new poll of the mayoral race released Monday, leaving Yang’s consistent frontrunner status in question as the first negative ads against him hit the airwaves two weeks before the June 22 primary.

Twenty-two percent of likely Democratic voters said in an Spectrum News NY1/Ipsos poll that they would select Adams as their first choice on their ranked-choice ballot. Yang received 16 percent, followed by Kathryn Garcia with 15 percent, Scott Stringer with 10 percent, and Maya Wiley with 9 percent; 16 percent of the voters polled answered “Don’t Know.”

Andrew Yang had been the favorite just a few weeks ago and is now listed at +155 at BetOnline.

Animal rights group that launched de Blasio says Andrew Yang all wrong

The anti-horse carriage group that spent nearly $1 million backing Bill de Blasio is now funding ads attacking Andrew Yang.

Steve Nislick, Wendy Neu, and Jackie Kelman Bisbee — founders of New Yorkers for Clean, Livable and Safe Streets or NYCLASS — have formed a new super PAC called New York Deserves Better.

“There’s no question that respect for animal rights goes hand in hand with respect for human rights,” Nislick said in a statement.

“And it’s clear that Andrew Yang is the wrong choice for mayor on both fronts. From supporting the abusive carriage horse industry to opposing tax increases on the wealthiest New Yorkers, Yang is simply unable and unwilling to stand up to the powerful forces that perpetuate cruelty in order to make a profit. New York deserves better than Andrew Yang,” Nislick said.  Source: New York Post

Donald Trump

No, Donald Trump Did Not Wear His Pants Backwards at Rally

Tabloid news publications like TMZ and Metro showed zoomed-in videos of the former President's crotch area during a speech at the North Carolina GOP convention over the weekend, and some social media users took to Twitter to mock Trump, suggesting that the 74-year-old had unintentionally put his pants on backward for reasons that were widely speculated.  There were even suggestions he was wearing a diaper.

The reason for the Snopes.com verification that Trump was NOT wearing his pants backwards: Unusual wrinkles in Trump's pants that people struggled to explain.

Snopes notes that wire agency photos of Trump on the stage in Greenville, N.C., "clearly show the former president on stage wearing pants with a zipper in the front."

And a video posted by C-SPAN of the 90-minute speech also showed the former president wearing pants the right way.

Elise Stefanak

Pro-Trump congresswoman who replaced Liz Cheney in GOP purge announces she is pregnant

“We are absolutely overjoyed to announce that our small family of 2 will soon be 3!” wrote the Republican representative in her social media post on Twitter and Instagram on Saturday. “We're excited to share that we are expecting a baby this fall and we cannot wait to meet our precious bundle of joy," she said.

Joe Manchin

The left hates Joe Manchin. His fellow Senate Dems are staying quiet

The West Virginia Democratic Senator opposes changing the rules for filibustering legislation, challenges the urgency of pursuing a party-line infrastructure spending bill and plans to vote against his party's high-profile elections bill. And amid Manchin's reluctance, it’s not clear at the moment how Democrats will break through on the priorities they campaigned on for years.

“Of course I’m frustrated. Who isn’t frustrated?” said one Senate Democrat who requested anonymity to speak freely. “Do you want to see the patches where I pulled my hair out?”

Those who serve alongside Manchin generally see nothing to gain by ticking off their mercurial colleague, at least in public. That’s not just because of how desperately they need Manchin to confirm President Joe Biden’s judicial nominees. Democrats also will have to rely on his vote if they try to push through a sweeping infrastructure spending bill on party lines. Source: Politico

Matt Gaetz

Matt Gaetz Sought Job at Newsmax But Was Rejected: Report

Rep. Matt Gaetz (R-FL), who is reportedly the subject of a federal investigation trying to determine whether he had sex with a minor, sought a job with Newsmax earlier this year and was rebuffed. A spokesperson for Newsmax, a far-right media outlet, told Reuters, “Newsmax has had no plans to hire Rep. Gaetz.”

In March, Axios reported that Gaetz was considering leaving Congress to pursue a career in television at Newsmax. At the time, Mediaite was told by a Newsmax spokesperson the company does not comment on talent discussions.

Last week it was reported that Gaetz is also being investigated for possible obstruction of justice. When asked if he was concerned about whether he’d be indicted, the Florida congressman simply replied, “No.”  Source: Mediaite
