Drake vs. USC Betting Preview

Drake won its first NCAA tournament game in exactly 50 years, beating Wichita State 53-52 in a First Four matchup.

"It's been a long time, and our guys knew that," DeVries said. "Getting the opportunity to be here was something these kids dream about, coaches we dream about it. And then to get a win for our program that hasn't happened in 50 years, it's really exciting. These guys have fought through so much and for them to be the ones that were able to get us one, I think is really deserving."

Sophomore guard Joseph Yesufu led Drake with 21 points on 8-of-21 shooting, logging all 40 minutes in the win.

No team in the tournament has more length than USC, a definite concern for No. 11 seed Bulldogs, who rank 292nd in the nation in average height.

“USC is very impressive on film,” Drake coach Darin Devries said Friday. “Great length which helps them at both ends of the floor. They present a lot of challenges for us because of that overall size.”

If Drake plays like it did in the second half against Wichita State, USC will have its hands full for 40 minutes. The Bulldogs are efficient shooters and scrappy defenders. Then again, the Trojans have a team full of deadly shooters and they are equal parts long and athletic. Drake has the ability to pull off an upset, but USC has been one of the best Pac-12 teams all season. The Trojans will find a way to pull away for a victory as the game progresses.

Maryland vs. UConn Preview

UConn lost 59-56 to Creighton in its most recent game, while Maryland fell 79-66 against Michigan in its last outing.

R.J. Cole is averaging 13.9 points and 4.7 assists to lead the charge for the Huskies. Tyrese Martin is also a key contributor, maintaining an average of 10.2 points and seven rebounds per game.

The Terrapins have been led by Aaron Wiggins, who is averaging 14 points and 5.9 rebounds.
