Russell Henley Payout Odds to Win 2021 US Open

Russell Henley will offer a generous payout of $15,000 on a $100 bet should he go on to win this weekend's US Open.  The American golfer shared the lead with England's Richard Bland early Saturday afternoon and Canadian golfter Mackenzie Hughes on Sunday.

Henley has suffered through a four-year US PGA win drought and hopes to make amends this weekend.  Over that period, Henley has also failed to finish among the top 10.

"I feel good about my game," Henley said after Friday's play.  "I've never been in this position before in a Major and, you know, I just feel like I'm going to learn something no matter what happens."

When asked Friday at what point he felt compelled to say he's among the top 50 players in the world, Henley noted that he's managed to rank number 52nd in the world (currently he's ranked 64).

"I just feel that the type of golf I've been playing is really good and consistent.  I think that's what you really have to do to be in the top 50."

Henley has played nearly flawless golf with only three bogeys over his first 36 holes, notes Mark Schlabach of ESPN, adding that history is on the side of the former University of Georgia star.  Of the previous nine players who held the lead or co-lead in each of the first two rounds of the U.S. Open, five went on to win the tournament.  Schlabach wondered if Henley could ultimately handle the pressure.

Henley has been in this position before.  The 32-year-old's highest finish to date in a Major was 11th at the 2017 Masters Tournament where he wowed the crowd. (see below)
