It’s easy to focus on the offensive talent for this game because there is plenty, but this matchup will also feature two strong defenses and a pair of game-changing defenders. Props typically focus on offensive numbers, but it’s worth taking a look at the past two defensive players of the year in Aaron Donald and Khalil Mack.

One thing, among many, that makes the Rams so strong is their diversity on offense. They rank fourth in the NFL in both rushing and passing and when one of the areas suffers, the other is usually able to pick up the pieces. That happened last week in Detroit. Jared Goff had his struggles throwing the football, experiencing one of his worst games of the season, but the Rams still hit the 30-point mark for the 10th time in 12 games.

Goff threw for only 207 yards on 17 of 33 passing with his seventh interception of the season. With the aerial attack struggling, Todd Gurley took over and showed the entire league why he is a MVP candidate. Gurley rushed for 132 yards and a pair of touchdowns and added three receptions for 33 yards in the win over the Lions. That production came one game after Gurley was held in check by the Chiefs where the Rams scored 54 points and amassed over 450 yards.

With Malcolm Brown out for Sunday’s game, we could see Gurley get a few more snaps than normal, which is saying something. Gurley leads the league in rushing yards with 1,175 and yards from scrimmage with 1,649. The Rams will test the Bears second-ranked run defense in a game of strength vs. strength, but look for Gurley to get plenty of opportunities through the air, setting him up as a candidate for reaching the over on his total yards on a prop bet at BookMaker.eu.

Gurley has scored at least on touchdown in all but one game this season and leads the NFL with a total of 19. The Rams will score and Gurley is likely to hit paydirt at least once at some point in the game, so go with him on another prop play.

The Bears split a pair of games while Mitchell Trubisky recovered from a shoulder injury. Trubisky is expected to play on Sunday and he should help the offense. I am concerned that he might be a little gun shy facing the Rams front and although Trubisky is having a nice season, coming off an injury, especially on to your throwing shoulder, is a difficult situation. In order to slow down the Rams pass rush, Trubisky will use Tarik Cohen in the short passing game.

Cohen has thrived as a receiver all season and he had his best game last week with 12 receptions for 156 yards. He was used in a variety of ways and handled each situation expertly. Matt Nagy devised plays to get the diminutive Cohen in mismatches with linebackers or safeties and the Bears took advantage. Cohen leads the team with 77 targets and 59 receptions and has the ability in the open field to break tackles turning a short pass into a chunk play.

The return of Aqib Talib to the secondary, along with Marcus Peters will allow the Rams to limit the Bears receivers, making Cohen and important part of Chicago’s offense. Cohen will get plenty of touches and will likely lead the team in catches and receiving yards and I would definitely play him to go over his total in both categories on a prop bet at BookMaker.eu. However, I still have reservations about Trubisky and will fade him on a prop on his passing yards.

It’s rare to have a game that features the two best defensive players in the NFL, but we have that on Sunday night and you can expect Aaron Donald and Khalil Mack to make an impact at some point. Donald leads the league in sacks with 16.5 to go along with four forced fumbles. Donald is unstoppable and if Trubisky doesn’t get the ball away quickly he will get sacked. Mack is the play-maker the Bears needed to turn their defense from good to great. He has nine sacks, five forced fumbles and an interception. Even if the two DPOYs don’t get their stats, they alter the game and I can see this one playing below the total because of them.
