Watch this one carefully. BetOnline was still teasing the -3 Wednesday after bringing this one up to -3.5. If BetOnline continues this trend along with the likes of Heritage, Pinnacle and Bookmaker, this could be an indication that the books are feeling good about a Carolina cover. BetAnySports, an offshore of 5Dimes, is also posting aggressive lines of late. BetOnline was seeing 90% of the spread action on New Orleans. This was true across the board.
Even Bovada moved this one up to -4 and dropped to -3.5.
But the Saints are rated the highest of any team this week (26.57). Carolina is at 19.10 but gets the home field advantage tacked on to give them a rating of 21.59. This still gives us a line of Saints -5.
With Drew Brees, Carolina had managed to lose by a field goal in three of the last six meetings. They also won a game during this span.
Sam Darnold completed 24-of-35 passes for 279 yards with a touchdown and zero interceptions in the 19-14 win against the Jets.
And then there was Jameis Winston who outplayed Aaron Rodgers in a blowout 38-3 win.
Winston is no Drew Brees and we can't overemphasize that the Panthers are more familiar with the Saints than Green Bay was.
Gambling911.com sees Carolina covering the +3.5 with another field goal loss or a win.
