Cecilia Reeve, known as Sally, puts £1 every day on a horse at her local bookies, even on a Sunday. She claims betting horses is the secret to living long. And Cecilia would know. She’s 100 years old.

Sally, who still lives independently in the house she has been in since she was a baby, places a £1 each-way bet on horse racing each morning.

Susie said: ‘I think that’s what keeps her alive. Some days she does very well, other days very bad, but it doesn’t matter. It keeps her brain active.
‘Every day I go to the bookies and put on a £1 each way for her. She puts a bet on every day, seven days a week. I even have to do it on a Sunday.’
