Seyed Reza Ali Fazeli was indicted on wire fraud charges by a federal grand jury in California earlier in 2018 after conning investors out of at least $6.2million.  He gambled away most of the money, according to the complaint.

Big name pros the likes of Erik Seidel, John Juanda and Zach Clark were among his victims.

Seidel and Clark were each fleeced for $500,000, while Juanda invested $300,000 in the scheme.

Attorney Kate Corrigan told the local NBC affiliate that her client had "made a very poignant statement" to Carter in which he said that it "makes me sick to my stomach to think how much I've violated the law and disgraced my family.”

A plea agreement was entered into last July.

Fazeli said he was "sick with shame" for having to leave his wife alone to care for their disabled daughter, according to Corrigan.
