Simplification finished 1st in the Fountain of Youth and Mucho Macho Man and in between those two races had a 2nd place finish in the Grade 3 Holy Bull.
"I love this horse," trainer Antonio Sano said. "He has so much heart."
A Florida Derby win remains a priority for Sano, Venezuela's all-time winningest trainer with more than 3,000 victories.
"I'd be very proud for me, my family, my clients, and for Gulfstream," said Sano, who has saddled more than 860 winners in the U.S. "My house is Gulfstream. I'd be happy to win this race in my house."
