Draftkings Sportsbook Dominates Illinois Gambling Search
(January 2, 2020 - 4:25 PM EST) - It's not even close (well, it wasn't until the Birmingham Bowl got delayed at least). The amount of searches coming into the Gambling911.com website from Illinois for the Draftkings Sportsbook is through the roof.
Draftkings is unable to operate in the state for two years.
Illinois approved sports betting late last year but is yet to move forward despite grandiose plans early on that included wagers on sports at stadium kiosks.
These are the hot searches over the last 48 hours coming into the Gambling911.com website.

Dallas
(December 29, 2019 - 3:44 PM EST) - Dallas, Texas is certainly one of our favorite markets in terms of referral traffic to the Gambling911.com website.
Just look at this traffic sampling from Sunday afternoon.
Much of the traffic orginating from search might surprise readers.
"Will WinStar World Casino Have a Sportsbook?"
The casino is not located in Dallas or even Texas for that matter. It's an hour north strategically located on the Texas/Oklahoma border.
WinStar World Casino became first to partner with the NFL and that’s helped boost interest in the possibility of a sportsbook opening in the mega venue.
Oklahoma has a much better shot of legalizing sports betting than does the Lone Star State. But while the situation looked promising there, Oklahoma is embroiled in a bitter dispute with the tribes.
Two weeks ago, Oklahoma Gov. Kevin Stitt said that he's taking over gambling negotiations with Native American tribes from the attorney general and plans to hire his own out-of-state legal team.
Stitt said if an agreement wasn't reached, that Class III gaming would be illegal in Oklahoma on Jan. 1, 2020.
“There is no uncertainty about continuing our gaming operations on Jan. 1, 2020,” Cherokee Principal Chief Chuck Hoskin Jr. said in a written statement. “Gov. Stitt has no authority under the compact or any other law to close a tribal business, remove any games from tribal casinos or require a game to be turned off.”
Through a spokeswoman, the Muscogee (Creek) Nation said it plans business as usual at its River Spirit Casino in Tulsa and its eight other gaming facilities.
California
(December 28, 2019 - 2:41 PM EST) - From San Diego to LA there were plenty of searches for "Find a Sportsbook Near Me".
Also of note were the high searches for MyBookie, specifically "Is MyBookie Legal in California".
The same held true for Bovada.
"Can I Place a Bet on the FanDuel App" is an extremely popular search term among California area sports bettors.
Gambling911.com has also witnessed an increase in the number of people searching for Fox Bet Sports Betting.
New Jersey
(December 28, 2019 - 2:00 AM EST) - The New Jersey legalized sports betting industry will at some point mature. The sector is still in its early stages and, by most accounts, has enjoyed great success. Gambling911.com has observed some of the sports betting-related searches originating from the state.
Since the start of the 2019 regular NFL season, there has been a robust boost in search inquires associated with "How Do I Start My Own Sportsbook" and "How Do I Create My Own Bookie Website" as well as variations on whether bookmaking businesses are legal. “How to Start a Sports Betting Company: Easy as 1-2-3” anyone? We saw this one come in Friday morning.
The obvious take on this is sports betting advertising and overall exposure in the Garden State is extensive. Folks see the likes of FanDuel and Draftkings doing well and it seems plenty want in.
The advantage local bookies have in New Jersey is the ability to offer wagering on credit and anonymity. The downside is that regulators here are overly protective. They've chased out most of the offshore books including the likes of Bookmaker, BetOnline, Bovada and MyBookie. Whether regulators go after local bookmakers with the same zeal remains to be seen.
Another interesting search trend this holiday season: Queries for betting on popular NJ-based apps in other states.
Case in point: "Can I Bet on the Draftkings Sportsbook App From Texas".
You cannot.
These searches are likely conducted by those visiting family and friends outside the state for the holidays.
Then there are those great (ahem) New Jersey sports teams.
We're being a little sarcastic (think Giants and Jets, who play here). We won't even mention Rutgers (okay, we just did).
But it's not all bad.
The pride of NJ right now is Seton Hall Basketball.
Seton Hall is starting the NCAA Men's College Basketball season relatively strong at 8-4 (5-1 at home), but New Jersey residents can't bet on games featuring the Pirates.
We here at Gambling911.com see a surge in search inquiries on where to bet Seton Hall games the 24 hours leading up to one of their games. This trend will grow come January.
There weren't a ton of College Bowl searches coming out of New Jersey. The state, home to the disastrous Rutgers College Football program, is not represented in 2019-20. March Madness searches, on the other hand, should be significant.
